Viet Nam appreciates all international assistance on social security and expects that international organizations will continue making experience exchanges and providing technical assistance for Viet Nam’s social insurance agencies.
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam made that statement at his reception for head of the Office of the Secretary General of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Jens Schremmer, Global Lead for Pensions and Social Insurance at the World Bank Robert Palacios and Reserve Bank of New Zealand Board Chairman and Chancellor of Waikato University Neil Quigley on September 18 in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province.
At the meeting, Mr. Neil Quigley highly valued the close cooperation of the Viet Nam Social Security in launching cooperative agreements with the Waikato University.
In the future, the two sides will further join hand in realizing research activities, international meetings and conferences, supporting postgraduate training, compiling textbooks, exchanging experiences and transferring technology.
With 338 members operating in social security from 157 nations in the world, the ISSA aims to support its members through improving capacity and effectiveness of social security management, enhancing adaption ability to social security reform process and raising the awareness and knowledge on the importance of social security, said Mr. Jens Schremmer.
Mr. Robert Palacios said that WB-sponsored technical assistance projects for Viet Nam have made contributions to completing and developing the social insurance system more effectively and transparently.
Deputy PM Dam affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is encouraging the Vietnamese Social Security to coordinate with other insurance companies to expand the coverage of social insurance.
