Vietnam Voluteer Army fighting Khmer Rouge saving the people of Cambodia
It has been 35 years
since the day Cambodian with the help of Vietnam’s Volunteer Army wiped out
Pol Pot’s genocidal regime (07/1/ 1979). However, for Khmer people who were born
and raised in the dark period in Cambodia history like Ambassador Hul
Phany, they are always deeply grateful for the sacrifice of voluntary soldiers
of Vietnam Military, who had helped Cambodian win the fight on July 1st, 1979.
Reliving the memories of
those terrible days, Ambassador Hul Phany remembers, under the rule of Pol
Pot's regime, the people of Cambodia
had been suffering a lot of pains and hadn’t dared to expect there would be
someone to help the country out of the brutal regime. However, the magic did
happened when the Khmer soldiers and Vietnamese voluntary soldiers had come to
help ordinary people of Cambodia.
"I would say with all my heart that, if there was no date of July 1st
1979, the people of Cambodia
would have been killed much more and we also won’t have a country of developing
Cambodia
as today. The victory of July 1st 1979 likes the second mother which
gave birth to me, my family and the people of my country, helping Cambodia
to have a new life with happiness and harmony" Ambassador Hul Phany said
pathetically.
Therefore, individuals as
well as Ambassador Hul, the people of Cambodian who love peace and could
distinguish right from wrong, they certainly can’t pretend being dumb or deaf
or ignore the distorted theory of some elements. They have distorted that the Vietnam’s act of helping the people of Cambodia
escape from Pol Pot genocidal regime was the act of invasion. And recently,
they incited some Cambodian to protest, hold
cardboard signs and shouted slogans on Monivong boulevard in front of the
embassy in Phnom Penh, accusing Vietnam
of allegedly stealing Cambodian territory. Especially, they burned a flag of Vietnam in
front of the embassy, saying the act was part of freedom of expression allowed
in the country. This is unacceptable to change the truth of history!
The Vietnam's help was
not only to help the people of Cambodia to escape the brutal killing regime,
but also voluntary soliers and military experts had helped Cambodia to preserve
these achievements, to develop sustainably and prevent genocide regime come back.
As an officer working for the Government of Cambodia since July 1st
1979, Ambassador Hul Phany has been witnessing many Vietnam’s experts have done
much for Cambodia in sharing experience, introducing work for Cambodian staffs
working in Cambodian Government as Ambassador Hul. He said: "In
particular, the trial of the leader of the Khmer Rouge of International Court
of Justice confirmed the validity and humanitarian heart of Vietnam to help the people of Cambodia to destroy the genocidal regime.
I and my family and all Cambodian, recovering from the genocide period of 3
years 8 months and 20 days, can’t forget the tremendous help of Vietnam
Volunteer Army who sacrificed their lives for the people of Cambodia to live".
The victory of July 1st
1979 has become the major holidays of Cambodia. According to Ambassador
Hul Phany, the hearted sharings of Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen and National
Assembly Chairman Heng Xomrin, those who were in the fight against the Pol Pot
regime, when they meet the former army volunteers, military experts of Vietnam recently,
have largely expressed sincere heart to remember forever the great work of
Vietnam’s help sharing pains with the Cambodian./.
