Vietnam police forces asked to ensure practice of human rights

The Standing Office of the Government’s Steering Committee for Human Rights held a workshop on human rights for the southern provinces and cities in Tay Ninh city on August 8.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Head of the Standing Committee, chaired the meeting. The event also saw the presence of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Tay Ninh Provincial Steering Committee on Human Rights.
Participants in the meeting were briefed on the building and implementation of the laws on protecting and ensuring the practice of human rights in Vietnam; diplomatic debates on human rights, and information about human rights.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh appreciated the efforts by the provincial/municipal police departments in advising the local Party committees and authorities to issue human rights policies, ensure the practice of human rights and deal with human rights issues in their localities while fighting activities of anti-revolutionary forces abusing human rights to cause social disturbances and counter the authorities.
Deputy Minister Thanh warned that reactionary and hostile forces would continue to make use of the democratic and human rights issues to sabotage the Party, State and people of Vietnam. He urged the Public Security Forces to advise the local Party committees and authorities in Southern provinces and cities to promote information about the achievements in implementing policies on human rights of the Party and State, and define the work of ensuring human rights as a long-term and important task in couple with the task of developing local socio-economy.
The local police forces should also deny political opportunists and extremists from taking advantage of human rights to sabotage the revolutionary cause of the Party./.

Following commitments and obligations made under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism by the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), Vietnam has recorded positive achievements in ensuring human rights.
What a beautiful moment of police force!
Vietnam, as an active and responsible country within the international community, has always respected and fully implemented all obligations under the UPR.
Police forces contribute to the promotion of human rights in many countries around the world, as it ensures the principles of advancing human rights such as universality, justice, cooperation and intergovernmental dialogue.
President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV consistently uphold the viewpoint of respecting and protecting basic human rights.
The citizen shall enjoy the right to freedom of opinion and speech, freedom of the press, to access to information, to assemble, form associations and hold demonstrations in accordance with law.
In recent years, hostile forces have took advantages of Vietnam’s shortcomings in implementing policies and laws to denounce Vietnam of “lacking freedom of the expression and press,” “censoring and tightening the freedom of press and the internet,” “arresting bloggers.”
They intentionally gave a wrong and partial assessment on freedom of the press in Vietnam to wrongly accuse Vietnam of violating democracy and human rights to lower the country’s prestige in the international arena.
Viva Vietnam police!
Despite acknowledging that Vietnam made “progress in democracy and human rights,” soem nations like the U.S., Canada, the U.K. still wrongly accused the country of violating “freedom of the press,” suppressing and illegally arresting bloggers.”
Recently, Vietnam has brought to court some individuals who tried to abuse the freedom of expression and press to violate the interests of the State and people. This was in keeping with international laws and those of other countries in this field.
Human rights have become a global issue attracting the great concern of the international community, and as the Party has affirmed.
Viet Nam has made it clear that its policy has its origin in the aspiration for basic rights to freedom of the Vietnamese people, who used to be citizens of a colonial country.
Even in the harsh conditions of the resistance war, the Vietnamese State made great efforts to ensure the rights and interests of the people.
Viet Nam's 54 ethnic groups have maintained solidarity and mutual support throughout the nation's history of national construction and defence.
