Overseas Vietnamese youths singing national anthem
When the summer
comes, there is always a special and meaningful event for overseas Vietnamese
youth, the Viet Nam Summer Camp. The camp provides a great occasion for OVs
youth to develop a better appreciation for the homeland’s rich tradition and
heritages and the importance of protecting the nation’s sovereignty over sea
and islands.
"The Viet Nam
Summer Camp 2014" for overseas Vietnamese youth organised annually by the
State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs was held on July 8-27 throughout the country. This is a significant
activity of combined forces, facilitating overseas Vietnamese youths to meet
with local youths to explore and learn about the history, culture, national
traditions, the policies of the Party, the State and the development of the
country, contributing to the construction of images, the traditions and culture
of Vietnam in general, and each locality in particular as well as linking the young
overseas Vietnamese generation with the home country.
With the theme “My
Homeland's Sea and Islands”, about 170 delegates who have achieved good results
in their studies and work and have contributed to building the overseas
Vietnamese community and the homeland participated in the summer camp. They
came from 30 countries and gathered in Hanoi
to participate in the Vietnam Summer Camp 2014.
During the time of
organizing the Summer Camp, participants will attend many meaningful activities
such as visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi,
Temple of Literature,
having exchanges with young people in Quang Ninh province, Quang Ngai province,
visiting landscapes in Quang Ninh, Hue, Da Nang, Da Lat, etc. The
opening ceremony of the Summer Camp will take place on July 7 in Quang Ninh
province.
Next, the program of
exchanging arts “the Vietnam Summer Camp 2014 - My Homeland's Sea and Islands”
with valuable items about island home, the exchange between delegates of summer
camp with law enforcement forces, fishermen at sea and youth of Da Nang
province will be broadcasted live to audiences nation-wide. As revealed by Mr.
Dang The Hung, participants of Summer Camp this year have prepared a meaningful
gift to present to Vietnamese law enforcement forces and fishermen at sea.
Especially, in Da Nang City,
the programme will take place on July 16-20 with sightseeing activities
including Da Nang
Museum, Linh Ung Pagoda,
the heritage banyan tree, Non Nuoc stone carving village, Nam O fish sauce
village. In particular, the young people will join a live TV programme “My
Homeland's Sea and Islands” on channel DRT dated July 19 at 19:30 at the East Sea Park, Da
Nang.
Through these activities,
overseas Vietnamese youth could understand not only the beauty of the
motherland country but also our history in protecting our sovereignty over
Hoang Sa, Truong Sa islands. One of the most important aims of the camp 2014 is
to help overseas youths have approach and deep comprehension about the issue of
national sovereign islands, patriotic traditions, solidarity of cultural
origin, solidarity of the 54 ethnic groups, thus enhancing the pride and
attachment to their homeland.
In my opinion, this event is
a precious chance for OVs youth to discover their homeland. So no matter the
country they’re living, they could be the bridges between Vietnam and
other country and international friends. They also can contribute to the
country’s development and protection. So we should organize more and more
activities like this, especially for the youth of Vietnam, the future owner of the
country./.
