Seventy-seven years ago, Vietnamese people gained the first remarkable accomplishment of the nation in the 20th century: successfully carrying out the August Revolution to seize back national independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by President Ho Chi Minh, within just 15 days, from August 16 to September 2, 1945, the country’s revolutionary forces overthrew the French colonial regime and its feudalist puppet emperor to build a new political system throughout the country.
History has shown that there are two significant factors deciding victory - leadership and solidarity.
During the August Revolution as well as following wars of resistance, the people rallied and fought under the words of late President Ho Chi Minh: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”, and when it comes to the fight against the invisible enemy - COVID-19 - the guideline for action from the Party and the State is to “put the people’s health and lives first and foremost”.
The whole nation is a great unity bloc, and everyone is joining hands with the Party and the government to fight the pandemic, protect health and lives, and provide the best care for the people.
The affirmation of the Party, State, and government about the goal of protecting people’s health and lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic has once again promoted the joint effort, consensus, and great solidarity of the entire nation. With unanimity, solidarity, and absolute trust from the people, the country will definitely win its fight against the pandemic in the near future./.

The August Revolution (1945) has defeated the colonialist and feudalist regime, established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam – a new revolutionary state in Vietnam.
The victory is the result of promoting national’s strength in combination with the time’s strength, in which the former is the decisive one.
Despite the historical facts, there appear many contrary, unkind, and biased opinions which need clarification.
The autumn of 1945 forever marked a brilliant milestone in Vietnam’s history of national construction and defence.
Under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Vietnamese people rose up in the great August Revolution, throwing off the yoke of colonialism and feudalism to seize power and establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first state for farmers and workers in Southeast Asia.
77 years have passed but the spirit of the August Revolution has always shone in the struggle for complete independence and unification, successfully building a peaceful, united, independent, democratic, and prosperous Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The 1945 August Revolution had been carried out at the right time and its success had great influence on not only the resistant war in Viet Nam, but also in other countries in the world, especially colonial countries at that time.
The August Revolution victory is one of the most glorious milestones of the country's history and its thousands of years of national construction and defence.
The tremendous victory ended the nation’s suffering and marked the dawn of a new era of national independence and socialism.
The Revolution’s success resulted from a self-reliance policy under the wise and ingenious leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) led by great President Ho Chi Minh.
It is also a triumph of the ‘art’ of revolutionary war in actively seizing opportunities, gathering all people from all walks of life, promoting the strength of the national unified bloc to lead all of them in the General Uprising.
Viet Nam became a free, independent and democratic nation from a semi-feudal colony and from illegal and secret activities the CPV grew into the only political party leading the whole nation to develop the country.
The revolutionary spirit and great values of historical lessons learnt from the Revolution always inspire and strengthen the Party and the nation to continue to step on the new path and write new historical pages.
Thoroughly studying Ho Chi Minh Thought and the Party's leadership style associated with current reality, the article draws some lessons from the August Revolution victory in 1945.
It is the lesson on firmly hoisting the flag of national independence and socialism; on great national unity.
Revolution is the cause of the people, by the people, for the people; on the relationship between quality and quantity; on the close link between the Party's will with the people’s hearts, liberating ourselves with our own strength.
The most important premise for socialism is the struggle for national independence led by the working class through the vanguard leadership of the Communist Party.
To achieve the victory of the August Revolution, a big lesson drawn is the great bloc of national unity.
The quality of party members is more valuable than the quantity, the most important thing is that cadres and party members put the interests of the nation and the Fatherland first and above all.
It cannot be said that the August Revolution victory was a “pure luck” for us in a time of “power vacuum”, as suggested by some people of hostile, reactionary forces.
