A great source of encouragement and cheer

This is a major political event of the Vietnamese Party and nation, with special significance in the process of continuing to comprehensively and synchronously step up the Doi Moi (Renewal) cause.

The Congress conducted discussion vibrantly, frankly and democratically and reached a high consensus on the basic assessments regarding the implementation outcomes of the 12th National Party Congress’s Resolution, 35 years of implementing the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Political Platform, and 10 years of implementing the amended Political Platform (supplemented and developed in 2011) and the National Socio-economic Development Strategy 2011-2020. It also set out socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025, determined goals and orientations up to 2030 with a vision for national development to 2045, reviewed the Party building work and the implementation of the Party’s Charter, evaluated the leadership of the 12th Party Central Committee (PCC), and elected a new PCC for the 13th tenure.

The Congress agreed that the documents submitted to the Congress deeply grasped the principle of cleverly combining theory and practice, steadfastness and innovation, and inheritance and development. On the basis of widely promoting democracy, the documents are truly the crystallisation of the wisdom, responsibility, will and creativity of the entire Party and people, clearly showing the unity between the will of the Party and the hearts of the people in the cause of national construction and defence. The Congress discussed and adopted important guidelines and policies to properly and comprehensively orient, lead and direct the implementation of the Congress’s Resolution. The Congress signifies the unified will and strong determination of the entire Party, people and army in the new period: “Strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system into purity and strength; rousing the will and determination for national development and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc in combination with the power of the era; continuing to comprehensively and synchronously accelerate the cause of reform; constructing and firmly safeguarding the Fatherland while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; and striving to raise Vietnam into a developed, socialist-oriented nation by the middle of the 21st century.”

The Congress discussed and decided on the election rules in the spirit of the Party election rules (issued in 2014), inheriting the regulations implemented at the previous congresses, making supplements and amendments to some points to suit current practical requirements, and absorbing good experiences proved true by reality from the Party congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress. On that basis, the Congress seriously and wisely elected the 13th-tenure PCC with 200 members, including 180 official and 20 alternate members. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has been re-elected as Party General Secretary, meeting the requirements of leading the country in the current period and the sentiments and aspirations of the entire Party, people and army.

The Congress called on the entire Party, people and army, along with compatriots both at home and abroad, to strongly promote patriotism, national spirit and socialist democracy, along with the strength of great national unity, cultural values, national development aspirations, the strength of the Vietnamese people, the role of science & technology, and innovation, to successfully implement the Congress’s Resolution and bring the country forward in a faster and more sustainable manner, thus creating a new development miracle for a prosperous and happy Vietnam on par with other powers of the five continents as envisioned by great President Ho Chi Minh and in accordance with the aspirations of the whole nation.

The 13th National Party Congress concluded successfully in coincidence with the 91st founding anniversary of the glorious Party and the Lunar New Year occasion, becoming a great source of encouragement and cheer for the entire Party, people and army to sail through difficulties and challenges, take advantage of opportunities and strive to turn Vietnam into a developed, high-income and socialist-oriented. Addressing the Congress’s closing session, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong asked Party committees and organisations at all levels to focus on extensively disseminating the outcomes of the Congress among the entire Party, people and army; study and thoroughly grasp the Congress’s Resolution and documents; promptly design and implement action programmes and plans; launch the widespread patriotic emulation movements and the spirit of innovation; and overcome difficulties and challenges to soon bring the Congress’s Resolution to life.

With the success of the 13th National Party Congress, each Vietnamese citizen has taken greater pride in the glorious Party, the heroic people, great President Ho Chi Minh, and the country’s power, potential, and international position and prestige after 35 years of Doi Moi (Renewal). Under the wise and talented leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese nation is steadily moving towards a bright future!
