High voter turnout reflects public trust in Party, State

Vietnam’s general elections have grabbed attention of global and regional media outlets which highlighted the event’s importance to the country, the special circumstances of the elections and the role of the new legislature to the national development.

The elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils of all levels for the 2021-26 tenure was an important political event in Vietnam, which had been organized in a very professional manner and conducted without any blemish.

To ensure the success of the elections and minimise impacts from the pandemic, the National Election Council (NEC) has issued a number of documents directing and guiding how to safely conduct the elections.

It went on to underline Vietnam’s 35 years of development process, the country's achievements in economy, foreign policy and defence-security domains inject a sense of confidence to cope with the current difficulties and challenges triggered by external factors.

In the light of this, sound election preparation is a further extension of people’s aspirations to scale new heights in the development process.

The credentials of the candidates have been evaluated and those found to be deserving delegates are put in the fray.

This is also an affirmation of Vietnam’s achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party in all fields, especially economy and epidemic prevention.

The party has demonstrated an independent stance, which has enabled the government to achieve outstandingly in many bilateral as well as regional issues, thereby enhancing the country’s standing before the global community.

Vietnamese people used their democratic right to elect deputies to the NA and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure in the context of Vietnam having reaped great socio-economic achievements and improved the lives of its people in the 35 years of renewal.

Voters used their rights to choose qualified candidates representing the Vietnamese people in the NA and People’s Councils, contributing to perfecting the law-governed state under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Participation in the election was not only the exercise of democratic rights but also the responsibility of citizens towards the destiny of the country and in order to elect their representatives who will decide upon the important issues of the country.

The success of the election also consolidates the people's trust in the Party, the State and the socialist regime of Vietnam and is the basis for success in the cause of national construction and development under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The high turnout rate expressed the high sense of responsibility of Vietnamese voters and their confidence in the election.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has pledged that he and the Government will work hard, together with the whole political system, army and people, to promote the country’s achievements and overcome difficulties to boost development and implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Over 35 years of “Đổi mới” (renewal), Việt Nam had gained great achievements. However, the country was facing big challenges, including the ageing population, exhausted natural resources, climate change and non-traditional security issues.

They need to focus on promoting the role of people’s representatives, protecting the interests of people, and engaging in deciding important issues of the country and supervising the implementation of laws and operations of the State, Government and local administrations.

I hope that the 15th NA would strengthen its supervision over important programmes and projects, and put forward stronger measures to boost socio-economic development.

Việt Nam had risen to its highest position ever in the international arena!

However, there would be much to do in the future, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
