Socialism, based on President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, has opened a right path for Vietnam and the country now has the opportunity for national development and improvement of living standards of each people and family, Chairman of the Council of Experts of the Eurasian Research Fund Grigory Trofimchuk told Vietnam News Agency's correspondents in Russia.
The “Doi Moi” (renewal) process over 35 years has proved effective, and a socialist-oriented economy has helped Vietnam create a “brighter” socio-economic picture like today, the Russian scholar said.
He made the statement following the recent release of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong’s writing on a number of theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path towards socialism in Vietnam.
Regarding external affairs, Trofimchuck said Vietnam’s prestige and position in the international arena have been heightened over years. Vietnam has remained as one of the leading ASEAN member states and an active country in the Asia-Pacific region, he noted adding that thanks to the country’s dynamism, Russians have got to know more about ASEAN.
Vietnam serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council has grabbed international attention, he said, adding the country has also actively advocated for food security, one of the world’s pressing issues today.
He emphasised that many countries need to learn from Vietnam’s good practices in developing a socialist-oriented economy, especially in the face of global economic uncertainty.
According to Dr. Evgeny Vlasov, Deputy Vice-President for International Relations, Far Eastern Federal University of Russia, Ho Chi Minh’s philosophy and ideology remain relevant in today’s world and his predecessors have applied them wisely in State governance to respond to the current context.
He regarded Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as the symbol of a new stage of development in Vietnam, the third stage of “Doi Moi”. He had a high hope of Vietnam successfully fulfilling goals of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and becoming a developed and high-income country./.

Việt Nam will strive to become a socialist-oriented developed nation by the middle of the 21st century
Other objectives include enhancing the Party’s leadership, ruling capacity and effectiveness, building a clean and strong Party and political system in all aspects to consolidate people’s trust in the Party, State and the socialist system
In the past when the Soviet Union and the system of socialist countries still existed, there was nothing to discuss about socialism in Vietnam
since the model of socialism in the Soviet Union and many Eastern European countries collapsed, and the world’s revolution fell into decline, the issue regarding Vietnam’s path towards socialism was raised again.
Tremendous achievements have been posted in a range of endeavours over the last 75 years.
For the last 90 years the CPV has been at the vanguard of the struggle for national independence, liberating the country from almost a century of domination by Western colonialists and leading the people to full victory in the 30-year resistance war against powerful aggressors
Since the country’s reunification, the Party has led the Vietnamese people in carrying out renewal, modernisation, and industrialisation.
Important changes were also made to the functions of State administrative bodies, including the Government, ministries, and People’s Committees at all levels, in line with the transition to a socialist-oriented market economy.
In building a new management system, a major reform of the State apparatus was carried out.
A socialist-oriented market economy had been formed and the macro economy stabilised. With a developing economy and social issues addressed, the lives of the majority of people improved.
Vietnam has approached theories of economic development since the Doi Moi (Renovation), although it has achieved many important results via awareness and in daily life, it still faces several challenges and difficulties.
In particular, fast, effective, and sustainable development is considered the most important guiding ideology to explore and select solutions for the socio-economic development of the country
Economic development is the central task; implementing industrialization and modernization of the country associated with the development of the knowledge economy and protection of natural resources and the environment; building a rational, modern, effective and sustainable economic structure, closely associated with industry, agriculture, and service
By 2025, Việt Nam hopes to become a developing nation with modernity-oriented industry and surpass the low-middle-income level.
By 2030, it aims to be a developing nation with modern industry and upper-middle-income level.
By 2045, the country is set to become a developed nation with a high-income level.
We acknowledge that capitalism has never been as global as it is today and has also reaped great achievements. However, capitalism still has failed to overcome its inherent contradictions.
In the developed capitalist countries, the so-called "free" and "democratic" elections cannot change dominant forces, although they can change the government.
Vietnam is building a society in which development is truly for people
National independence associated with socialism is the basic and cross-cutting guideline of the Vietnamese revolution and is also the key point in President Ho Chi Minh's ideological legacy.
