Enhancing Vietnam’s press efficency

Vietnam's newspapers
Nowadays,
the press is an important part of our life, contributing greatly to the development
of society and the country. To better understand the operation of the press in
our country and its direction in the future, in this article I would like to share
with you something!
Currently, Vietnam has 838 press agencies,
including 199 print publications, 67 radio and television stations and 17,000
licensed reporters.
In recent years, the strong, positive
and rapid progress in the performance of the national press has been seen in
successfully publicizing the Party and State’s policies and laws and the
aspirations of the people.
The press
has discovered new factors, advanced models, making significant contributions to the achievement of national
development and international integration. The
press has also played an important, active role in fighting corruption and
other social evils…
Particularly,
the press has been active in protecting national sovereignty over borders and
sacred sea and island territory of the country; democratizing the social life; strengthening
people's confidence in the Party and Government and creating consensus in
society.
In the field
of external information, the press has provided international friends and overseas
Vietnamese around the world with an
accurate and clear insight into the nation and people of contemporary Vietnam, as
well as the policies and laws of the Party and State. This has helped win the
support of the Vietnamese community abroad and international partners,
particularly in national growth.
As
principles, purposes, objects stipulated in the establishing license, most press
agencies have functioned properly and ensured truthful information. That has
been contributing to political stability, raising people’s knowledge and
meeting the cultural needs of people.
However, some of the sector’s shortcomings, including the poor
quality of some agencies, a worrying trend towards the commercialization of
news and a lack of caution in professional practices, leading to inaccurate
information occasionally being published. In these press agencies, leaders have not
managed and educated ideology for reporters, editors properly. They have lacked
attention in building and operating procedures, not sensitive in handling
situations. Some journalists even violate journalistic morals...
To have a appropriate number of press agencies and publications, with higher
quality, better service provided for the
readers, the radio listeners, audiences and society as a whole, the Government
is building a plan containing principles.
First and
utmost, the press is a forum of the Party and State agencies, social
organizations and the people. The press is placed under the leadership of the
Party, the State's management and operates as prescribed by law. The goal of the
national media planning in 2020 to build a more
professional and modern journalism sector, meeting the information needs of
people and serving national construction, defence and development as well as
international integration.
The
press’s development must go hand in hand with good system management to ensure
that media and press agencies perform their functions, tasks, principles and
objectives, consistent with the development trend of modern press and improving
the quality of politics, culture, science, professional press.
To fulfill
its mission, the press should further promote its role and responsibility in
raising awareness, belief, orienting social opinion, as well as actively
participating in the fight against distorted allegations, wrong and hostile opinion;
focus on propagandize effectively the direction and policies of the Party,
State and becoming a truly forum of the people./.

Vietnam has a lot of newspapers, especially on the Internet!
When I have free time at the weekend, I usually use my time for reading newspapers and watching television. I find that our press is still poor in quality.
My favorite newspaper is Thanh Nien Online. Because it has straight view to our social problem, that different to other ones.
I absolutely agree with Ad that, the press must follow the Party's guideline! So far, it can develop properly and strongly in the society' development.
The press is an important factor in the fight against corruption in our country. In recent years, the press have brought a lot of cases in to the light of the law.
The Government has to reorganize our press system to to ensure that media and press agencies perform their functions, tasks, principles and objectives.
I have same idea with Mr. Hung Quan, but I think it's a hard work and we need a careful plan, in which we need the press to join hand to buid it.
We hope that in the near future we will have some press agencies having global level. So, we can easily to get to international community and in reverse.
There is another important thing that we also have to invest more money for the press development.
About the investment, in my opinion, the Gov and the press both have to take care. The Gov invest money and create policies for the press to earn money by itself. I think that's the best way.
