Vietnamese e-government to better serve people and businesses

10/8/20

A Prime Minister’s Working Group led by Minister - Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung worked with 10 ministries on the implementation of assigned tasks related to e-Government development and administrative procedure reform on August 10.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Mai Tien Dung said that the information system for meeting and handling the work of the Government (e-Cabinet) which operated from June 24, 2019 has helped synchronously and fully manage all Government meetings.

The Government report information system was launched on March 13, 2020, connecting 16 ministries and agencies. It is estimated the system will save about VND460 billion a year for the State budget.

In December 2019, a national service portal was introduced to the public. After eight months of operation, it integrated and provided 990 online public services; received over 55.6 million hits and more than 213,000 accounts were created. It is estimated the national service portal will save over VND6.7 trillion per year.

According to Minister Mai Tien Dung, an Information Centre will also be launched on August 14.

Minister Dung said that as Vietnam is expected to be a favourable destination for investment after the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to create an optimal environment to welcome the influx of capital.

He also asked the Ministry of Finance to be a pioneer in administrative reforms, which are significant to create trust among businesses.
