Vietnam, Cambodia promote religious cooperation

12/3/18
The Vietnamese Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs and Cambodia’s Ministry of Cult and Religious Affairs held talks and reviewed the cooperation on religious work between the two countries in Ho Minh City on March 12.
During the talks, Head of the Vietnamese Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang spoke highly of the two agencies’ past cooperation on religious affairs, saying that the two sides made achievements in the field through exchanges of delegations and mutual support in organising international religion-related events in each country.
For his part, Cambodian Minister Him Chhem emphasised the need to promote the cooperation agreement by organising meetings on religion between border-sharing provinces.
The increased cooperation on religious affairs will benefit the two countries’ peoples, helping them understand their traditions, culture, and customs, he added.
Both host and guest shared experiences in state management on religious affairs and agreed to step up delegation exchange, cooperation in personnel training in religious work, supporting cooperation between the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam and the Cambodian Buddhist Sangha.
