Vietnam extends sympathy to Laos and Greece over recent disasters

Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent a message of condolences to Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou over the collapse of the Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam in Attapeu province, Laos on July 23.

“On the behalf of the National Assembly and people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, I convey my heartfelt and deepest sympathies to you, the people of Laos, the families of victims and those affected.”

“I believe that under the leadership and interest of the Party, State, and National Assembly of Laos, the fraternal Lao people will soon overcome the losses and surmount the aftermath of the incident,” the NA Chairwoman said.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang sent a message of sympathy to Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos on July 25, with regards to the significant humans and property losses caused by the wildfire in the town of Mati, east of Athens, on July 23, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also cabled a message of condolences to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.
