Vietnam wins five gold medals at international mathematics competition

29 of the 33 Vietnamese students who entered won medals and awards at the 2018 Bulgaria International Mathematics Competition (BIMC) held in Burgas, Bulgaria from July 1 to 6.

The Vietnamese team won five gold, three silver, 11 bronze medals and 14 consolation prizes in the individual competitions.

In the team and group contests, Vietnam bagged three championships and one top trophy.

The gold medallists include Do Quang Minh, Van Trong Khoi, Nguyen Le Duc Anh, Tran Binh Minh and Nguyen Ngoc Minh Duy

This year’s competition attracted more than 1,000 contestants from 28 countries and territories including Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Macau (China), Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan (China), Tajikistan, Thailand, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
