Celebrating the victory over fascism celebrated in Vietnam

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City in conjunction with the Russian Consulate General in the city on May 7 held a ceremony to mark Russia’s 74th Victory Day over Fascism (May 9).

The event also aims to commemorate the “Immortal Regiment” in the Great Patriotic War.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Russian Consul General Aleksei Vladimirovich Popov recalled the history of the Victory Day as well as its special significance to the mankind.

He highlighted similarities between Vietnamese and Russian peoples, their mutual support in the past struggles for national defence and joint efforts to promote the traditional friendship.

Hoang Minh Nhan, President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in HCM City, said Vietnamese people will join hands with their Russian friends to tighten and further develop the fruitful relations between the two countries.
