Vietnam introduces code of conduct on social networks

The code of conduct is very necessary in nowadays situation, especially with the rapid development of social networks

The code of conduct on social networks only offers recommendations, and individuals and organisations committing violations will be punished in line with the law

basically, punishments for illegal violations on social networks have been prescribed in Vietnam’s laws.

It aims to create a healthy social network environment in Vietnam, ensure the right to personal and business freedom, and prevent discrimination between domestic and foreign service suppliers in accordance with international standards, practices and conventions to which Vietnam has joined.

The code of conduct is expected to build moral standards for behaviours on social networks, educate social network users about positive habits, helping to create a safe and healthy environment in the country

for organizations and individuals, the code also recommends should use the full name, personal real name, real name of the organization, agency and register with the service provider to verify the nickname, website address, contact point when joining and using the network society.

Do not use offensive language, violate fine customs and traditions; spreading fake news, false news

Illegal advertising, business services, which causing irritation in public opinion, affecting social order and safety, are banned.

Encourage the use of social networks to propagate and promote the country – people, good culture of Vietnam, share positive information, good examples, good deeds.

The code mobilize family members, friends, and people around to participate in education and protect children and minors to use social networks in a safe and healthy way
