The High-level People's Court in Da Nang on September 29 upheld an eight-year imprisonment sentence on a woman from Phu Yen province on the charge of “making, storing, distributing and disseminating information, documents and items aimed at sabotaging the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam” under Clause 1 of Article 117 in the 2015 Penal Code.

Tran Thi Tuyet Dieu, born 1988, was sentenced to eight years in prison on the charge in the first-instance trial by the People's Court of Phu Yen province.

At the appeal trial held publicly at the Phu Yen provincial court, the panel rejected all contents of Dieu's appeal.

According to the indictment of the Phu Yen People's Procuracy, from July 2011 to December 2017, Dieu wrote and stored 25 articles and 9 video clips with anti-state content.

She then posted those articles and video clips on her accounts on Facebook and Youtube.

Earlier from July 2011  to December 2017, Dieu also posted many articles on social media distorting the activities of law enforcement agencies and expressing support for Nguyen Viet Dung, who was sentenced to six years in jail for spreading anti-State propaganda./.
