An immoral and ungrateful campaign of the Vietnamese students for human rights association

Vietnamese people have
a long tradition of respecting teachers and education. So teachers are widely
respected in the society. That’s why in 1982, the Vietnamese government
ratified the 20th of November as the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. On annual
November 20th Vietnam’s education sector honors teachers and
enhances the bond between teachers and students. The celebration reflects a
beautiful long tradition of respecting teachers and education.
Teachers’ Day allows
Vietnamese students to express their gratitute and respect to their teachers.
It is usually celebrated with special events held at school, such as concerts,
recitals and exhibitions. The classes are cancelled for the day. Students
typically give their teachers flowers, greeting cards and small gifts. Former
students visit their former teachers either at school or at home to thank them
for their hard work and dedication.
On this day, a wide
variety of activities will be held in numerous provices and cities around the
country to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. The Minister of Education of
Vietnam usually addresses teachers on the occasion of their professional
holiday, expressing gratitute for their contribution to society.
Not just in Vietnam,
Teachers’ Day is celebrated in many countries to honor teachers for their
contributions. The date of the holiday varies from country to country. The
commitment of teachers to delivering good lectures and training students has
been central to education sector reforms. Teachers have contributed to national
education reform by adapting their teaching methods to training high quality
hunam resources for national development and integration. So, teachers deserve
to be paid tribute and the Day is a significant day of all generations of
students all over the country.
Sadly, for
unreasonable reasons, a group of extreme individuals claimed as the Vietnamese
students for human rights association (Hội sinh viên Việt Nam vì nhân quyền),
established in Australia has launched an campaign of rejecting the Vietnamese
Teachers’ Day above.
The group is claimed
as part of the global Students for Hunam Rights network (SHR network).
23-year-old Trần Hoàng Phúc, one of founders of the group, was arrested for
conducting anti-state propaganda under Article 88 of the country’s Penal Code,
particularly making, storing and disseminating videos defaming the Communist
Party of Vietnam and the country’s government. He will face imprisonment of up
to 20 years if is convicted, according to the current Vietnamese law. Its
senior members include Trịnh Ngọc Kim, Quỳnh Dao and few anti-government
university students who claim to fight for university reform, freedom of
education and human rights for students. The group is under the guidance of
former prisoner anti-government Nguyễn Đan Quế and backed by hostile forces and
some reactionary groups like Viet Tan, etc.
For any reasons, this
online competion campaign is immoral and ungrateful. There are manyrespectable
teachers are trying hard day by day to grow talented student generations fo the
country’s future. No one could succeed without teachers. They deserve to be
paid tribute, and it is also students’ demand to show their gratitute to
teachers. So, those kind of group like the Vietnamese students for human rights
association should stop immoral activities like this.
About human rights for
students, Vietnam has approved a project that aims to make human rights an
integral subject in education nationwide by 2025. Per the project, teaching
human rights will be piloted at several kindergartens, schools, universities
and vocational training centers in three cities and provinces in the north,
south, and central regions. By 2025, all educational establishments across
Vietnam will have the subject in their curriculum. No need for those
reactionary groups like the Vietnamese students for human rights association./.

An old saying, “No guide, no realization,” has seemingly been imprinted on countless generations of students.
There are a large number of silent teachers and instructors out there who are highly dedicated to their special or even rare profession. Day in day out, they painstakingly guide their students and devote their lifetime to training generations of outstanding students for the country.
Noble teachers deserve to be honored, no one could deny that!
November 20 is a special day for these silent teachers and many generations of students. This campaign is so immoral!
Vietnamese Teachers’ Day is a sacered occasion, when flower sales go through the roof and students visit their teachers across the nation to pay their respects.
So to work successfully in teaching makes you a pretty amazing person!
A good teacher is also partly a parent, policeman, psychologist, scientist and philosopher. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to listen to students’ problems, calm down an excited class or lift the spirits of an unhappy class.
This group of the Vietnamese students for human rights is just a mixed one which is controlled by hostile forces and consists of extreme individuals who do not know anything about Vietnamese traditions.
No person with a right heart could agree with this crazy idea.
A teacher understands that school is only half the classroom! A true teacher knows the world is bigger than the book and many lessons are learnt outside a classroom.
Year after year, producing young adults with enough knowledge to fuel Vietnam’s labor market. The system is not perfect – it never will be – even Western education struggles with adapting to new educational standards and economic demands.
Can't believe that there are students who would boycott the day of teachers. Let's boycott this bullshit group!
Celebrate this year’s Teachers’ Day with a deeper understanding that the man or woman who stands at the front of the class every day is pretty amazing! And don’t forget the flowers!
