Reactionary portraits: The Vietnam Human Rights Network versus the whole country’s interests
12/10/17
Taking
advantage of supports from America
and Western countries, there are many self-claimed human rights groups have
flourished as mushrooms in Vietnam
now. Those groups are mainly backed and controlled by foreign forces that aim
to oppose the Party and State of Vietnam. Some have caused troubles and
problems for the country’s national security and stability. One of this kind is
the Vietnam Human Rights Network (VNHRN). It self-claims as a non-profit NGO founded
in 1997, gathers a number of so-called human rights activists and organizations
committed to the defense and promotion of human rights and civil liberties
entitled to all Vietnamese citizens set forth by the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights and subsequent international human rights
instruments. Its headquarters are in Orange County, California, U.S.A.
As
a network, participating organizations are equal in their standing and votes,
it means that they work together on some common projects while retaining their
identity as individual organizations with their own activities. For
coordination purpose, VNHRN consists of three main bodies: the Coordinating
Committee, The Supervisory Board, and the Advisory Board. Up to now (2016), the
following three persons have been appointed with the function of heading the
Coordination Committee: Nguyen Thanh Trang (1997–2005 and 2007–2009), Le Minh
Nguyen (2005–2007), Nguyen Ba Tung (2009 up to the present). These individuals
are known for their anti-Vietnam statements and activities.
The
activities of VNHRN are aimed at three main goals: (1) Information and
Education as spreading distorted Human Rights Newsletter; establishing a
website on the Internet to spreading slander human rights news and
developments, http://www.vietnamhumanrights.net/;
organizing human rights seminars and conferences in the U.S.; publishing some
ungrounded human
rights reports (since 2009); (2) Seeking International Support as cooperating
with international human rights organizations such as American NGOs, the United
Nations Human Rights Commissioner's Office, the UN Human Rights Council,
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Reporters sans Frontières, etc. . .;
(3) Providing support to so-called activists who violated Vietnam laws in
Vietnam as establishing annual Vietnam Human Rights Awards and awarding them to
outstanding human rights activists (since 2002).
Members
of VNHRN have launched activities opposing policies of the Party and State of
Vietnam. They are causes of social unrests and security problems in the
country. Ironically, those have done much would be awarded prizes that VNHRN
self-established like the Vietnam Human Rights Awards given out by the VNHRN
since 2002. Let see who have received this prize: Most Venerable Thích Quảng Độ and Father Nguyễn Văn Lý in 2002; Mr. Pham Que Duong and
Dr. Nguyễn Đan Quế in 2004; Mr. Le Quang Liem, Father
Phan Van Loi, and Venerable Thich Tue Sy in 2005; Mr. Do Nam Hai an Mr. Nguyen
Chinh Ket in 2006; Mr. Hoàng Minh Chính, Lawyer Nguyễn Văn Đài, and Lawyer Le Thi Cong Nhan in 2007;
Venerable Thich Thien Minh, Blogger Diếu Cày Nguyễn Văn Hải, and Tu Do Ngon Luan Magazine in
2008; Pastor Nguyen cong Chinh and Writer Tran Khai Thanh Thuy in 2009;
Journalist Truong Minh Duc and Mr. Đoàn Huy Chương in 2010; Dr. Cù Huy Hà Vũ and Ms. Do Thi Minh Hanh in 2011;
Ms. Pham Thanh Nghien, Blogger Tạ Phong Tần, and Ms. Huynh Thuc Vy in 2012;
Messrs Trần Huỳnh Duy Thức, Nguyen Hoang Quoc Hung,
and Lawyer Le Quoc Quan in 2013; Vietnam Redemptorist Province,
Mr. Nguyen Bac Truyen, and Musicians Viet Khang and Tran Vu Anh Binh in 2014;
Most Venerable Thích Không Tánh, Ms. Ho Thi Bich Khuong, and
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hang in 2015; The Vietnamese Bloggers' Network, Lawyer Vo An
Don, Ms. Tran Ngoc Anh, and Ms. Can Thi Theu in 2016. In this list, we just see
criminals who violated Vietnamese laws and have been sentenced by the courts.
What they did have caused instabilities and damages to the country’s interests.
How can these people be awarded for any prize like human rights one. This shows
the anti-Vietnam nature of VNHRN. The authority needs to issues measures to
monitor and keep this group aligned with the laws and the country’s sakes./.

Those networking groups is just a mixture of oppotunists who take advantage of the name of human rights to benefit themselves.
I do not believe that this group would bring any good things for Vietnamese people, they just worry for their fortune!
People should not be deceived by this group's allegations. They are controlled by hostile forces abroad.
This group must be exposed to public. Let no one be deceived by them!
It just consists of extreme anti-government individuals who were even sentenced for conducting the national security.
