After three years of implementing the project on dissemination of the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard for the 2019 – 2023 period and two years of coordination in the implementation of the "coast guards accompany fishermen" programme, the High Command of the Coast Guard Region 4 in Phu Quoc city in the southern province of Kien Giang has been really a fulcrum for fishermen to reach out to sea.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Tu, Deputy Political Commissar of the High Command of the Coast Guard Region 4, since 2019, the High Command has closely coordinated with local departments, agencies, armed forces, and enterprises in effectively carrying out the "coast guards accompany fishermen" programme.

In addition, the unit's forces have disseminated the Party's guidelines, viewpoints and policies on the management and protection of the country's sovereignty over sea and islands; provisions in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard 2018 to officials, people and fishermen, thus benefitting 20,000 people, and distributing over 37,500 leaflets and nearly 7,500 books and documents of all types.

The High Command has also cooperated with other forces in Kien Giang province to fight crime and law violations in the province’s waters./.
