Vietnam playing an active role in APEC
16/11/15
In the new strategic stage of Vietnam’s global integration, Asia-Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) is
one of the regional mechanisms, in which the cooperation mechanisms in
Asia-Pacific are respected and promoted.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM) will be held in Manila from November 18 to 19, 2015.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was
established in 1989 and has become the pre-eminent economic forum in the
Asia-Pacific region. Its primary purpose is to facilitate economic growth and
prosperity in the region, with the vision of creating a seamless regional
economy. APEC pursues these objectives through trade and investment
liberalization, business facilitation and economic and technical cooperation.
APEC aims to strengthen regional economic integration
by removing impediments to trade and investment “at the border”, enhancing
supply chain connectivity "across the border" and improving the
business environment "behind the border". It endeavours to improve
the operating environment for business by reducing the cost of cross-border
trade, improving access to trade information and simplifying regulatory and
administrative processes. APEC also helps member economies build the
institutional capacity to implement and take advantage of the benefits of trade
and investment reform. APEC supports the multilateral trade negotiations
underway in the World Trade Organization and complements the goals of the G-20
Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth in the Asia-Pacific
Region.
In 1998, Vietnam joined APEC, marking the
important implementation of foreign policy of diversification, multi-lateralization
and international economic integration. APEC is a forum that contains almost
leading economic, trade and strategic partners of Vietnam, including 7
strategic partners (Russia, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and
Singapore) and 5 comprehensive partners (the United States, Australia, New
Zealand, Malaysia and Chile).
Vietnam has actively
participated and contributed to APEC cooperation for recent 17 years. Most
importantly, Vietnam had been successfully assumed the role of chairman of APEC
2006, holding the 14th APEC Summit, the 18th APEC Foreign
and Economic Ministerial Conference and more 100 events, issuing long-term
outlook, that targets to establish the free trade region of the entire
Asia-Pacific region, the Hanoi Action Plan to carry out the Bogor Goals and
comprehensive reforming measures, contributing to create new motivations for
APEC cooperation.
Vietnam has also been one of the
most active members of the APEC, proposing and participating in more than 90
new initiatives on every area such as: trade, investment, economic-technical
cooperation, resolving emergencies, medicine, anti-terrorism, food security,
energy, small and medium enterprises... Notably, in 2014, Vietnam successfully hosted the APEC ministerial
conference on Human Resource Development (Hanoi,
9/2014), issuing initiatives and the 2015-2018 Action Plan that promote
high-quality jobs and strengthen the human connection via human resource
development.
In 2015, Vietnam
had also proposed and hold many APEC important activities, including 10
conferences, dialogues about public-private partnership in infrastructure
investment; inland port development, energy management system, financing for
renewable energy, wind energy development...
The preparation for the
APEC Vietnam 2017 has been implemented as scheduled and synchronized all
aspects of the content, reception, propaganda-culture, security-medicine and
logistic. Vietnam has been
actively consulting the International Secretariat about the priorities in 2017;
starting to prepare the facilities, reception and security-medicine; building
the adequate human resource for the APEC 2017 that contributes to build a core
force for the international integration of Vietnam in new stage.
The Vietnam delegation to the 23rd APEC
Summit is to actively contribute to important issues of the Summit, especially the issues related to
economic connection, human resource development, food security... promoting the
image of an active member in APEC and preparing to host the APEC 2017./.

that shows Vietnam has actively and deeply intergated in the global, which has brought Vietnam many interests
It's role and voice in the regional mechanisms like ASEAN, APEC, ASEM, ARF has increasingly improved
not only in the regional forums, Vietnam's prestige in the international mechanisms, especially in the United Nation is also high
APEC will discuss economic issues in the context of the world economy facing many difficulties and challenges.
This is one of the most important forums that includes many powerful countries like the US, China, Japan, Russia
China has feared APEC will mention the East Sea dispute, so this country required the hold country Philippines did not give the East Sea issue in agenda of the APEC
the East Sea dispute is threatening to the peace and stability of the region that will seriously affect econimic development of all Asia-pacific countries
that's right, so discuss of the East Sea issue in the APEC forum is perfectly reasonable
I hope the 23rd APEC Summit will adopt a joint statement in which the East Sea issue is mentioned
I think it's very dificult beacause China will seek to prevent
