Vietnam's robust response and its strong public health system have enabled its success in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.
It could be partly ecological, but they are certainly related to the quality of responses, and I think Vietnam has had a very strong response.
Since the novel coronavirus was first spotted in the country in January, Vietnam has taken a number of measures to detect new infections and contain them.
The public health system in Vietnam is very strong. The government at the highest level took this seriously, and has really taken a whole-of-government approach to the response, and I think that is why we’re seeing some successes in Vietnam.
Vietnam was also open to inputs from outside technical advisors such as WHO and academic partners, and took on board advice from experts.
With the spirit of ‘fighting against the pandemic like fighting against an enemy’, the whole Vietnamese Party, armed forces and people have made an all-out effort to implement synchronous measures to prevent and combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to ceaseless efforts, Vietnam has been controlling the disease and has received appreciation from the international community as well as support and trust from its people.
While the pandemic is sweeping through the globe like a terrible flood, Vietnam has remained steady with a low rate of infection and no deaths.
Vietnam implemented an early social distancing policy and deployed one of the world's largest isolation campaigns for people returning from abroad while isolating infected people and conducting medical traceability for anyone who had contact with COVID-19 patients.
Vietnam has decided to donate 140,000 face masks to Japan. Meanwhile, Japanese Government decided to hand out a coronavirus stimulus of ¥ 100,000 (USD 935) per individual, including Vietnamese living and working in Japan.
Vietnam's important role as the ASEAN Chair 2020 and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term, affirming that Japan will continue to work closely with Vietnam on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
As life would soon return to a pre-COVID-19 norm when the social distancing order turns ease, some Vietnamese largest corporations unhesitantly give hands to help the community to overcome the impacts of the pandemic in both terms of economy and health.
The early recovery from the pandemic is largely credited to the early precaution and aggressive deployment of resources.
Even with its limited resources, it has earned it praises from the international community.
Like most nations around the world, the economic impact can be felt in every corner but as a highly collectivistic culture, Vietnam is ready to pick things up again after health and safety have been secured for everyone in the community.
Even though everyone faces struggles in the economic downturn, there is no hesitation in lending a helping hand. Citizens send in food and beverage supplies that they can gather from their own communities for the frontline workers.
