Maritime and aviation security in the South China Sea re-emphasized

Recently, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held talk
with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel in the framework of his official
visit to the Kingdom
of Belgium.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung
congratulated Charles Michel has officially inaugurated Prime Minister of
Belgium; appreciated the success of the Belgian Government in overcoming the
negative impacts of the global economic - financial crisis to make the
Belgium’s economy grown back. Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel appreciated
the socio - economic achievements of Vietnam in the last years. This
positive development creates favorable conditions for strengthening bilateral
relations in the future.
The two Prime Ministers stressed that more than 40
years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (1973-2014), cooperation
between the two countries in many fields have developed and demonstrated by
many high-level visits in which the most recent visit to Vietnam by Crown Prince
of Belgium (March 2012) and the visit to Belgium by Party General Secretary
Nguyen Phu Trong (January 2013). The two sides agreed to further promote
high-level exchanges of visits and strengthen cooperation, mutual support at
multilateral forums and international organizations such as the United Nations
(UN), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), cooperation forum between the Association
of Southeast Asian nations and the European Union (ASEAN-EU) and the
Organization of the Francophonie (Francophonie). The two sides appreciated the
role of the Asia-Europe Meeting, considered it as a channel for dialogue, cooperation
programs and key exchange between two continents, confirmed the importance of
the Vietnam-Belgium cooperation through this mechanism.
Belgium affirmed their support for the signing of free trade
agreements between the EU and Vietnam
and said that this agreement with the Framework Agreement on Partnership and
Comprehensive Cooperation (PCA) between Vietnam
and the EU are stable ground to further develop cooperation between Vietnam
and the EU member states.
The two sides agreed to enhance trade cooperation, facilitate
for bilateral business to keep contact and connect in priority areas such as
ports, logistics, transportation, green technology, high technology, aviation
and universe. The two sides agreed to maintain the mechanism of Joint
Commission on economic cooperation to navigate the economic relationship,
identify priorities, improve efficiency of implemented projects, efficiency in coordination
mechanism for cooperation between the two countries as well as in the region and
community. Both parties said that the cultural and education cooperation were
highligh in bilateral relations to facilitate universities and institutes of
the two countries to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences, aiming at
trainning high quality staffs.

Minister exchanged views on issues of security and cooperation in the Asia - Pacific region.
Belgium confirmed its determination to promote cooperation in
the region both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The two sides stressed the importance of peace,
stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the South
China Sea, resolving disputes by peaceful means, do not use force or threaten
to use force, base on international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law
of the Sea as well as fully implement and Declaration on the Conduct of Parties
in the East Sea (DOC) and the need to achieve a Code of Conduct in the East Sea
(COC).

For EU-Asia cultural and social relations, the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) is a foundation whose mission is 'to promote greater mutual understanding between the peoples of Asia and Europe through closer intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges'.
IT is an important development, taking the bilateral relationship to a new stage with wider and deeper cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and in line with the two sides’ priorities on socio-economic development and external affairs.

The visit shows Vietnam ’s determination to develop the partnership and comprehensive cooperation with the EU.
The EU attaches importance to Vietnam ’s increasing role in the region and the world and wishes to enhance bilateral cooperation and cooperation at regional and international forums.
Let's see the EU official affirmed the EU’s stance in solving disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures based on the respect for international laws, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, to ensure free and safe maritime navigation and security in the region.
Many countries support concerned parties to fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and work toward building of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
The Vietnamese Party and State attach great importance to strengthening comprehensive cooperation with the European Union (EU).
Vietnam hopes the EU will expand multifaceted cooperation in the fields of the two sides strength
