60 years: the glorious victory of Dien Bien Phu

Vietnam's flag was raised on France's headquarter at Điện Biên Phủ
60 years and the Dien Bien Phu Campaign has been a
typical campaign in the war against the French colonial. Vietnamese people and
army had defeated French expeditionary military, who was very powerful and
equipped with modern weapons. Dien Bien Phu campaign ended with complete
victory belongs to the people of Vietnam. The great victory of Dien
Bien Phu is not only recorded in the Vietnam’s history as a glorious landmark in
the 20th century, but also still as valuable materials in the process
of building and protecting our Vietnam
nation.
As President Ho Chi Minh wrote: "Dien Bien
Phu as a golden
page in Vietnam’s
history. It clearly show where colonialism at its downturn, and the national
liberation movements around the world are rising to the complete victory".
And " That is the great victory of our people and also the common victory
of all the oppressed peoples of the world".
The Dien Bien Phu victory, the culmination of the strategic offensive East-Winter (1953 – 1954), is the biggest victories, the most dazzling of the entire Party, army and people during the war against the French colonialists (1945-1954). This victory was a decisive factor, contributed to completely smash the French intention of invasion and the U.S. intervention, forcing them to sign the Geneva Agreement, ending the war in Indochina peninsula, opened up a new revolutionary era of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, a significant contribution to the national liberation movement and the collapse of the old colonialism all over the world.

The historic victory of Dien Bien Phu have era stature and great significance. It was a combination of many factors like patriotism, revolutionary spirit, strength of national unity, bravery and wisdom of Vietnam, the will to fight, to win, and the strength of the People's Army and other armed forces of Vietnam, among which the most important one is the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. The Dien Bien Phu victory is also the victory of the three Indochinese countries, we was united, solid and faithful in the fight; and there was the help and support of the international friends.
The victory of Dien Bien Phu victory ended the
nine -year war of resistance against the French colonialists and American intervention;
completely eliminated the invasions of French colonialism in our country and
other countries on the Indochina peninsula; it had protected and developed the
revolutionary August 1945 achievements; opened a new revolutionary phase,
carried out a socialist revolution in the North and the South liberation
struggle, the national reunification and brought the country to go to
socialism.
The Dien Bien Phu victory had increased the national pride, absolute confidence in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which was founded and trained by the President Ho Chi Minh; cheered up the entire Party, people and army to fight with their heart under the glorious flag of the Party, for the independence and freedom of the country, the happiness of the people.
The Dien Bien Phu Victory had been the major
contribution to the fighting movement for peace and progress of mankind.
The Dien Bien Phu victory gave a fatal blow to the foundations of the French colonialists and American intervention, the citadelof the old colonialism was knocked out in the key position, made the collapse of the old colonialism all over the world; shown the globally failure signal of the counter-revolutionary strategy of the new colonialism led by U.S. imperialism. The Dien Bien Phu Victory was the overall victory of the countries on the Indochina Peninsula, of the communist movement and international workers, the worldwide fighting movement for peace and progress of mankind.
The Dien Bien Phu victory of our nation has
demonstrated the truth of the times : The oppressed and invaded nation will certainly
be the winner in the fight for their independence if they have the unyielding
will, proper way, creativity and unity; inspired and encouraged colonial
countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America stood up struggling to free themselves
from colonialism, imperialism .
The victory of Dien Bien Phu
campaign, was derived primarily from the leadership, right direction of our Party
and President Ho Chi Minh. Throughout the war, especially at the most important
moment of the war, our Party and President Ho Chi Minh always grasped the
theory of Marxism - Leninism, raised up the people's war, used the revolutionary
armed forces as the core; hit the enemy with the power of era with the
combination of national and international experience; hit the enemy by our own
strength majorly and the support of the socialist countries in all aspects and
friends all over the world; actively created and exploited our advantage to
make the enemy surrender unconditionally .
The victory of the Dien Bien Phu campaign was also
rooted in the pure solidarity and mutual faith of the people and army of Vietnam - Laos
– Cambodia.
We share our destiny to fight against common enemy and hearted support from the
brothers socialist countries all over the world. We will remember in our heart
that support.

I have just arrived from Dien Bien Phu, I was very lucky to join the 60 year DBP victory ceremony.
You're so lucky, Van Nhan. These days we're living in heroic atmosphere of 60 years ago when a small nation defeated a super powerful French, who were colonists!
I saw the parade in Dien Bien Phu on televison. It was awesome! Our people and armed forces had shown the undefeated strength with the witness of international friends.
I love Vietnam, it's our tradition of defeating enemy to protect our beloved country. Whoever dare to invade our country, no matter how hard we have to suffer, we will fight and win the war.
