The Kilo-class submarines: continuing the spirit Bach Dang victory
28/4/14
Vietnam's the 1st submarine named HQ-182 Hà Nội
On April 3rd, a national flag-raising
ceremony for Vietnam’s first
two submarines was solemnly conducted at Cam
Ranh Military
Port in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa. Two submarines were HQ-182
Hanoi and HQ-183 Ho Chi Minh City, which arrived in Vietnam on December 31, 2013 and
March 19, 2014, respectively.
This historic event has been a landmark in history
of the
Vietnam People's Army, because for the first time, our military forces have
ever had submarines, especially these are the most advanced submarines in the
world today. The event also marked the
official operation of Submarine Brigade 189, which was recently set up and is
the first of its kind in Vietnam.
This event was not only the armed forces’ happiness and pride, but also the
pride of all Vietnamese people. From now on, we have more modern weapons to safeguard the country’s sacred sovereignty over sea
and land. The brigade will have four more similar submarines that
will be handed over from Russia
to Vietnam
in the coming time, and probably will not stop at that number.
Vietnam's
kilo submarines are modern ones which are capable of destroying enemy’s aircraft
carriers, destroyers, guardian ships, logistics ships... It can also attack on
the headquarters of enemy on the ground or support other forces to capture or
recapture the island.
To have these most modern weapons, we had to spend billions of dollars for the
purchase of submarines, building the docks, plus more million dollars per year
for maintenance… This is not a small amount of money to our economy at this
time. With that sum of money, we could build hundreds of schools, hospitals,
bridges... or invest in economic development.

But the entire people of Vietnam
have unanimously ser aside all of those needs to spend on military
modernization. Hardly can we see any purchases highly get sympathy as this
time, because it is simply a must to protect the frontiers, islands of our
beloved country.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister
Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that this is a milestone marking a new development of
the Vietnam People’s Navy in particular and the Vietnam People’s Army in
general.
He added, as a nation suffered trauma, losses of war, we do want peace for building
the nation, improving people’s life and caring for people's happiness. But the
peace will only be longing desire, we have to strengthen all aspects of
politics, economics, culture, society, defense, security, foreign affairs... Only
by doing this we can maintain peace, protect sovereignty and territorial
integrity of the country.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Dung also
reiterated that “Vietnam’s
defense policy is for the sake of peace and self-defense,” adding that “its
military modernization aims to defend and protect the country only.”
“Building,
developing, and protecting the fatherland is a fine tradition and a sacred
obligation of every Vietnamese,” the PM said.
He
emphasized that the Party, government, people, and army together will create a
combined strength to build the country and protect its independence,
sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The words of the Prime Minister is the will, the
desire and the consciousness of every citizen of Vietnam.
With thousands of years of building and defending the country, the nation's
history has always affirmed that Vietnamese are
peace-loving people, we crave for peace, but also not afraid of war.
Each Vietnam
people is willing to sacrifice their lives and property to protect its national
integrity. In other words, to protect the homeland, every citizen is willing to
sacrifice from the last bowl of rice to the last drop of blood.
Vietnam
would rather die than lose the country, not be slaves.
This is tradition of patriotism, the indomitable spirit as the silently flaming
fire in the veins of every Vietnamese citizen, which flared mightily each time
when the Fatherland being invaded, to burn the country sellers and robbers to
dust.
In the past, only with spears, sticks, we have defeated a lot of powerful enemies.
The spirit of Dong Da, Chi Lang , Bach Dang, Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi 12 days and
nights will have echoed to thousands years after.
Now, the indomitable spirit of the people with the modern weapons have been
raising up the national strength to defeat any invasion of any enemy./.

I love Vietnam. Vietnam is a peace lover country but can defeat all the enemy who dare to invade our country.
I'm very proud of our military. I hope I could be a soldier in the near future after graduating high school, especially be a marine.
From now on, we have more weapons to protect the country' sovereignty on the East Sea. Those weapons are very powerful, our enemy should remember that, if they don't want to get hurt.
Our Party and State always care much about defending and protecting our country. We has spent reasonably a lot of money to equip our armed forces.
When we are strong enough, we will take back what belong to us, our beloved Hoang Sa!
