An unacceptable action: Cambodian protester demanding Mekong Delta

A Cambodian protester shouts slogans during a protest in front of the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh on July 8, 2014

On Tuesday, about 100 Cambodian from the Cambodian Students and Intellectuals movement, gathered outside the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh and clashed briefly with police while protesting to demand Mekong Delta.
The Cambodian protesters held cardboard signs and shouted slogans on Monivong boulevard in front of the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh, accusing Vietnam of allegedly stealing Cambodian territory. They claimed that Kampuchea Krom, which is now a southwest part of Vietnam, is still a part of Cambodia though the colonial French (who once ruled both countries) gave the area to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia has dismissed a protest the drew as an illegal and groundless argument. A statement by the embassy said the demonstration fully violated local laws. “Vietnam strongly denies any and all slanderous distortions made by any individuals or organizations against Vietnam’s unification and overall sovereignty,” the statement said. The protest attempted to "interfere in Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty and internal affairs,” it said. Tran Van Thong, first counselor of the Vietnam embassy, said the protest was not approved by the Cambodian government, so the embassy is not obliged to consider the demonstrators' demands. “Southern Vietnam is our legal territory as recognized by the UN, international organizations, and every country in the world, including ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states.”

The protesters said they represented Khmer Kampuchea-Krom, an organization representing the indigenous Khmer peoples living in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, advocating for human rights, religious freedom and self determination.

Le Hai Binh, the Vietnamese foreign ministry spokesman, said at a press briefing Thursday that Vietnam would ask Cambodia take effective measures to quell the protest
When I heard the news, I was shocked. Vietnam and Cambodia have a good relationship, we are neighbors and have been helping each others for long time in our history. Vietnam had sent our troops to help Cambodian and their Government to stop and fight against massacre of Khmer Rouge. A lot of Vietnamese young soldiers had been die for Cambodia victory and freedom. When the war ended, two countries have established diplomatic relation. The relationship between the two countries is unceasingly consolidated and developed in all fields. The two countries have exchanged many high level delegations.
In addition to the bilateral relationship, as members of the ASEAN, the two countries have enhanced cooperation and mutual assistance within the framework of international and regional cooperation mechanisms such as the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), the Non-Aligned Movement, the United Nations. The two nations have regularly exchanged views and coordinated their activities at international and regional fora. Furthermore, the two countries have fulfilled their international tasks in protecting environment and combating terrorism as well as seeking peaceful solutions to all issues and realizing the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
So why there are some people and organizations want to sabotage the relationship between to countries?
Organizing this protest, there are two organizations having policies that against Vietnam, they are exploiting the Cambodian patriotism to break bilateral friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia. These organizations is representing for some factors in Cambodia’s politics that want to use some problems in territorial demarcation between to countries for political interests. Behind them, there are even hands of hostile forces.
This is very dangerous for the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. Cambodia must quickly take measures to stop protests like this and conduct propaganda about the wrong reason of this action and what behind this, and also the beautiful relationship between two countries./.

I think these protester are leaded by hostile forces. Or even to ear some money to protest. They don't know what they were demanding.

The Governments of the two countries have made a sound decision to sign the complementary agreement on the 1985 Treaty to settle the long-standing border issues in order to build a peaceful borderline, forming a significant foundation for the future of the two countries.
