“Islamic State” - global threat

11/9/14

Immediately after the execution of the second American journalist, self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (IS) have launched a video on YouTube threatening to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The extravagant act of violence suggest that the IS organization has become a global threat ...
Currently, the Russian general prosecutor has ordered a criminal investigation on messages that incite violence offerred by IS group and removed the tape from all mass media. Meanwhile, Britain and the United States continues to demonstrate leadership in the fight against the IS group. On September 3, British Prime Minister David Cameron reaffirmed the UK will continue to do what needs to be done to protect national interests as well as help ensure Iraq’s security and stability of this country as well as in the Middle East.
Earlier, President Barack Obama said that the United States would continue to promote the fight against Islamic State until this group is no longer a threat force in Central East and will seek justice for the American journalist was executed. President Obama also sent Secretary John Kerry, Defense Minister Chuck Hagel and White House adviser on counterterrorism Lisa Monaco to the Middle East to coordinate with regional partners in the fight against terrorism.
In addition, Ambassador, Head of Permanent Representative Delegation of the United States to the UN, Samantha Power said, as the alternated president of the Security Council in September, the United States will hold a high-level discussion about the terrorist threat to peace and security in the world held by President Obama personally. Session on the scheduled will take place on September 25 at high level with the participation of heads of state or government of the member states and the Security Council, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. According to Ms. Power, America welcomes international cooperation to prevent foreign terrorist fighters worldwide.
The above statement came just a few hours after the White House had confirmed record of executions of American journalist Steven Sotloff that it was authentic. This is the second American journalist being executed by IS after the radical Islamic group had similar actions against American journalist James Foley two weeks ago. IS informed that two executions carried out in retaliation for airstrike directed by Washington to their forces.
Organization of the Islamic State emerged after gaining control of more territories in northern and central Iraq. A report of the Organization for Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued on September 3 said: IS was behind executions of hundreds of Iraqi soldiers after taking an old military in June. The report confirmed IS killed about 560 to 770 people in the massacre, most of them were for the security force personnel serving in Iraq, the former base of the United States . Advisor Fred Abrahams of HRW called shocking executions are “crimes against humanity”. Human Rights Watch believes that the number of people killed may also increase as this organization continue to collect evidence and analysis of satellite images.
The barbaric act of IS as well as the rapid growth of this organization have caused concern to the whole world. From the Middle East, Iran again called for the cooperation of the international community in the fight against the Islamic State groups. Speaking during a visit to Rome, Italy on September 3, the Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif said that the rise of extreme terrorism got out of limits of a country or a region and became the common challenges of globalization, which requires the international community to have a common solution to this problem.

The Saudis, Kuwaitis, Qatar, etc. are their own worst enemies. They pay protection money to the terrorists to (hopefully) leave them in power, then they're surprised when the terrorists turn on them. Now, they expect the U.S. to be their errand boy and deal with their mess. America's presence in the Middle East is one big disaster. Always has been. I say gain access to the oil and leave them to sort out their own problems.

God forbid that they would come up with a plan of their own and deal with the situation in their own region.

It's hard to pull together a "coalition of the willing" when the coalition leader isn't all that willing.

I suggest that the Saudis are opposed to ISIS, but understand what it takes to “win" a war against ISIS (as opposed to merely achieving what will turn out to be nothing more than a temporary cessation of the fighting--hudna)

Yes it is about time that these nations take responsibility for what they have spawned. We should help because it is a threat to us, but this is a religious war that was born, bred and financed in their own countries and is now world wide. And, wealthy Muslims continue to support and fund the battle for a Global Islamic State.
