France to help Vietnam in training peacekeeping forces

France will assist Vietnam in the training of
peacekeeping forces within the framework of UN activities.
From January 16 to 18,
the international conference “France - Europe - Vietnam relations since 1954”
took place in Paris, France to discuss some profound topics such as defense
cooperation, politics, economy, trade, culture, science and education.
On January 16, in the framework of a seminar on defense
cooperation, the participants reviewed the major milestones in the France -
Vietnam cooperation which begun with the opening of the defense attaché office
in 1991 at the French Embassy in Vietnam, cooperating in military in the field
of medicine and then expanding on the officers training at the French Defence
Studies Institute and Military School of Saint - Cyr, exchanging high-level visits
and the French navy ships to Vietnam.
Evaluating the defense cooperation between France and Vietnam
over the time, Lt. Col. Nadia-Piercy said that this is a dynamic and positive field
with diverse activities. France is going to help Vietnam in peacekeeping training
within the framework of UN activities.
Earlier, the two parties have mentioned an official visit to
Vietnam this year will be paid by the French President François Hollande and
Defense Minister Jean - Yves Le Drian.
Regarding the prospects of defense cooperation in the coming
time, Maj. Gen. Daniel Schaeffer, former first military attaché to Vietnam said
that it is very large not only in the field of supplying military technology
but also in the field of training solders for Vietnam military in order to use
the modernised equipments.
In December, 2013, Vietnam Deputy Minister of National Defence,
Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh said that Vietnam had prepared some matters to join
the peacekeeping forces of the UN in early 2014 as well as trained officers to
play the role of observers in this organization.
At the end of last June, a Vietnam interdisciplinary
delegation was led by Mr Nguyen Chi Vinh to visit peacekeeping agency and
several agencies of the United Nations at the headquarters in New York, USA, in
preparation for Vietnam’s participation in the UN peacekeeping forces.
Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh expressed heartfelt thanks to the
United Nations for the positive assessments of our country's role in the
peacekeeping activities as well as the United Nations’ trust handed this noble
mission to Vietnam.
Lieutenant-General emphasized that this is the honor
and responsibility of a UN member states. To realize the sense and
responsibility of an active and responsible member in maintaining peace and
international security, Vietnam will do preparatory conditions, including legal
proceedings to sent troops participating in military medical units, military engineering and advisory officers in peacekeeping
forces.

France is one of the countries with a strong military, we can count on the support from France.
Vietnam and France had been on either side of the front line but now bilateral relations between the two countries has entered a new page with lots of achievements, and this is one of the important achievements of cooperation.
Vietnam exerts itself to fullfill the role of a UN member
This shows that Vietnam's position in the international arena has been recognized.
Vietnam is gradually developing all aspects, not only to ensure social security in the country but also solidify international cooperation.
Vietnam is a peace-loving nation
To support the Millennium Development Goals in each country, I think we should continue cooperating more closely and in accordance with potential values as well as the actual conditions of each country
Vietnam always prioritizes resources to ensure social welfare and poverty alleviation. I hightly appreciate that Vietnam actively implements orientations of sustainable poverty reduction during 2011-2020 and the national targeted program on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2012-2015
With the trust, support and cooperation of the UN member countries, Vietnam will fulfill its tasks
