The army of the people

The
Vietnam People's Army (VPA), the core of the Vietnam
people’s armed forces, is an army from the people and for the people, and ready
to sacrifice their own lives for “the independence and freedom of the Homeland,
for socialism and for the happiness of the people.” The forerunner of the VPA
is the Vietnam Propaganda Unit of the Liberation Army, the first main force
established on December 22, 1944 under the directive of late President Ho Chi
Minh.
It has been 70 years
since the establishment of Vietnam Propaganda Unit of the Liberation Army, the
predecessor of the Vietnam People's
Army. Each time when we see materials about the
very first days of the Army we all have a sense of pride mixed admiration
of the 1st generation of officers and soldiers of
the Army of the VPA, which founded by the people and for the people to fight.
So far, a lot of
researchers around the world have
been seeking answers to the wonders that the VPA
has made along its history of combat and
development. Until now, many researchers haven’t yet understood
why, an army, which was born without equipments and weapons, had won great victory, even they
didn’t have enough shoes
to use, and then open a new page
of history of the VPA with various great victory against powerful enemies. It’s hard to explain exactly why if the researchers just look at the
amount of the soldiers or equipment of the VPA at the early days. To win the battle for the first time on the front, the
army had been led, taught
and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and
President Ho Chi Minh. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam
and President Ho Chi
Minh, the army had
know how to rely on the people,
use the power of the
people and lead the people in the
fight to defeat the enemy. The
leadership of the Communist Party of
Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the loving, caring,
sharing, helping of the people are the sources
of strength of the VPA, make it strong to fulfill its holy mission "The missions always be completed, the difficulties always be overcome and the
enemy always be defeated"
When the country is
peaceful, along with the entire Party and the people, the officers and soldiers of the VPA do not only complete successfully
their political duties, firmly
safeguard the independence sovereignty
and territorial integrity of the
country, but also actively
participate in the economic-social development; willing to sacrifice for the happiness of the people. The spirit and the will
are not only gratitude for to the people’s great help, but also the
duty of every
officers and soldiers of the VPA.
In the glorious
history of the Vietnam People's Army, there has been a lot of meaningful
stories and work of officers
and soldiers which had left a deep
impression in the hearts of people,
and made people love them very much. In combat, many officers and soldiers of the VPA have always been ready to take their body to protect people; ready rush
forward to prevent the enemy
to protect the lives and property of the people. In peacetime, officers
and soldiers of the VPA are appearing in every parts of the country from deltas,
islands to mountainous areas to work with and
help the people; together with the
entire Party and people hastening the
elimination of hunger and poverty, bringing a
prosperous life, happiness for
the people. In natural
disasters, floods, fires, despite
the danger, officials and soldiers of
the VPA are the first ones to be there, ready to
sacrifice themselves for the
lives and property of the people.
It does not have
enough words to
tell about the love, protect and caring of the people for
officers and soldiers of the VPA during 70-year
road of construction, fighting
and development. And we also
do not know how
much work that officers and soldiers of the VPA need to do to repay the people for the VPA’s establishment and
development. It’s known that, in the
heart of every
Uncle Ho's soldiers are flaming the aspirations of devoting for independence, freedom of the country, for the happiness of the people./.

Our army, loyal to the Party, pious to the people and ready to fight and sacrifice their lives for independence and freedom of the Homeland, and socialism, will fulfil any tasks, overcome any difficulties and defeat any enemies
Uncle Ho’s Soldiers always faithfully fulfill their functions as an army ready for fight, for work and for produce
Being one of the core forces participating in mass mobilization, the VPA units have actively conducted that work
Functioning as an army ready for work, the VPA has always maintained its close ties with the people
The army of the people and being loved by the people, that is only the VPA.
