Protests against US President Donald Trump's ban on refugees and immigrants from several Muslim-majority countries have been held in cities across the United States.
Thousands of people gathered in Manhattan, New York where is considered as the symbol of freedom and immigration to protest the Trump’s travel ban.
The protesters marched to the headquarters of Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the US, upholding the slogan "refugees are welcome here" or "there is no ban, no walls".
One protester said: "These policies do not make sense for America. I believe that everyone should have an opportunity here, and we should not separate religion and race"
"This ban will make us less safe by sowing the seeds of hatred and this is not America. And so let’s come together to stand up against bigotry ".
New York state government has also announced to join the case against President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration that effectively denies entry to people from seven Muslim-majority countries
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has criticized the order as "unconstitutional and illegal". Specifically, New York will participate in the complaint by the Federation of the American Civil Liberty, Urban Justice Center and several other organizations initiated.
Under US law, federal judges have the right to prevent the decree of the President, and the Supreme Court can declare as "unconstitutional" a law passed by the National Assembly and promulgated by the president.
Protests also took place in a lot of cities in the US such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia .... Protester said that the ban of the President Donald Trump was hurtful to the families of refugees, who have always believed that they could escape the carnage to find new hope in the land of freedom, the US.
But above all, it broke the values of freedom and image of the US over the world. There are about 900 American diplomats also shares the same opinion and have jointly signed a document to formally protest the ban on entry of President Donald Trump.
They claim that this ban will harm the country, will not make America safer, but also send the wrong message to the Muslim world, alienating relations with the countries that have supported the US in the fight against terrorism.
Meanwhile, outside of the United States, the UN Secretary General has criticized the immigration decree of Donald Trump. According to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, all countries have the right, even the obligation, to manage responsibly the borders to prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements.
But this can not be done based on the distinction of religion, ethnicity or nationality, because it is against the principles and basic values that build up the society.
According to the UN Secretary General, the ban has "sparked anxiety and spread anger, which can facilitate a propaganda campaign of the terrorist organizations that we all want to destroy.
Earlier, many world leaders have also criticized the decree of the US President such as Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister's Office, Theresa May.
The order limits entry for at least 90 days from Syrian travellers and other Muslim-majority countries, but did not list the countries by name. The state department said the three-month ban in the directive applied to Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen - all Muslim-majority nations./.
