The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) wrapped up in Hanoi on October 29.
More than 100 participants agreed on measures to improve the efficiency
of the joint coordination mechanism and elected a working group in the
2016-2018 tenure with 19 members, including the Communist Party of
Vietnam (CPV).
The event means to put forth orientations for cooperation between
communist parties and workers in the coming time, especially the
preparation for celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Russia October
Revolution in 2017.
It also emphasised on the significance of fighting for peace and
socialism as well as protecting independence and sovereignty of
countries.
Representatives stressed the need to settle disputes via peaceful means
and international law, and confirmed their long-term solidarity and
mutual support to the cause of building and safeguarding the socialist
regime of Vietnamese people.
Established in 1998, the IMCWP gathers more than 120 communist and workers’ parties from 85 countries.
This is the first time the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has hosted the event.
