Vietnam promulgates mechanism to provide information on human rights for the first time

The conference providing information on
human rights has been held for the first time by the Ministry of Information
and Communication on May 25.
According to the Minister Truong Minh
Tuan, this is an opportunity for the member agencies of the Steering Committee
and human rights experts to meet and exchange with journalists, providing
further information on Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights.
Besides, the press agencies can organize
specialized pages, categories and discuss the human rights situation. The press
agencies are recommended addressing the issue of religion, rights of the child,
the Press Law, the Law on access to information.
The central agencies such as Committee
for Religious Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs ... are
responsible for providing information to the media and vice versa the press may
include a proposal for the two parties exchange experiences well.
Information Ministry expects this move
will help foreigners better understand Vietnam's efforts in implementing its
commitment to human rights.
Mechanism to provide information on
human rights is one of many activities to implement external communication of
the Government in the period 2015-2017, implement the recommendations that
Vietnam has approved under the mechanism of UN universal periodic review (UPR).
After the launch program, Minister Tuan
said that Department of Foreign Affairs and Information of the Ministry of
Information and Communications needs coordinate with the Office of the
Permanent Human Rights Steering Committee of the Government to hold monthly
conference efficiently.
