Why do U.S. police prefer to use gun?
21/6/16
The rate of fatal shootings by US police is 18 times higher
than one of Danish police and 100 times higher than Finnish police.
Jason Van Dyke, a police officer, was accused of the first
degree murder on November 11 2015 and the victim was Lanquan McDonald. In the
video announced by police, Van Dyke had shot Lanquan Mc Donald 16 bullets. The
case of Van Dyke is an evidence of fatal using weapons of U.S. police.
Statistics show that US police kill some people per day, which is higher than
the rate of European police.
Such huge difference cannot be explained by simple words, but
the culture of being able to use gun in the US is clearly a crucial reason.
Different from European countries, at almost states in the US, people can
easily buy gun for self-defense and carry gun with them.
Having gun illegally is not difficult in the US.
Approximately 57% of the victims, who was killed in 2015, are said to be armed
with model or real gun.
US police are armed
with guns. The specter of gun violence makes them easier to identify false or
exaggerate the danger coming from the enemy side. This makes US police more
dangerous and always be ready to pull the trigger. Moreover, it also stimulates
the “bravery” and aggressiveness in US police’s thought. American, who are
armed with simple weapons such as knife or even bare hands, are also easily be
killed by US police.
According to a research announced by Fatalencounters and Washington
Post, US police had shot death more than 575 people, who were holding knife
and other weapon since 2013. In the first 5 months of 2015, US police had shot
death 385 people, and half of them were Africa-American.
The abuse of using weapons of law enforcement officers in US
happens too often, creating a wave of protests against the dictatorship of US
police.
To be immune from
prosecution
Despite of killing a lot of people, among those there were a
lot of innocent people, US police seem to be immune from prosecution. Recently,
the scandal in Baltimore
is one of very few cases in which a police officer was put on trial in a court
in last July.
According to Rossiya
Segodnya, a Russian news agency, racism is also a strong impact on the US political
policies and commercial activities. In addition, individualism and the lack of
Government management are factors that make white people and law makers usually
support acts of violence and aggression of the police and unwilling to support
crimes and poor people.
US police are
localized.
Each district, county in 15.500 districts and counties in the US has
responsibility to choose candidates, impose disciplines and train staffs when they
equipp them with new weapons like Taser electric gun. Every county may
implement this very bad. The lack of budget in some locals also makes the
problem worst.
More a quarter of the victims are often killed in towns with
less than 25.000 citizens, even though there are only 17% American live in
these towns.
In the US,
the Supreme Court has allowed lethal use of force since 1989, in term of the
police officers feel properly the incoming danger. There are 38 states have
prescribed the use of lethal force. /.
