Vietnam contributes to build a peaceful and secure world

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen
Phuong Nga, head of Vietnam Permanent Mission at the United Nations called on
the international community to work together to build a peaceful and secure
world, to promote the culture of compliance and acting in accordance with the
fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga
stated clearly the consistent stance of Vietnam on supporting
anti-proliferation, the comprehensive and thorough disarmament, especially the
nuclear and mass destruction weapon, reaffirming the commitments with other
countries to strive for common goals, as well as ensuring security and safety
in applying nuclear energy for social-economic development.
On this occasion, Ambassador
Nguyen Phuong Nga also sincerely thanked, highly appreciated and expressed the
hope to receive more support of the international community, countries and
partners to help Vietnam effectively minimize the post-war consequences of mine
and bombs in the period of 2010-2015, especially in the field of mine clearance
and victim assistance.
Previously, speaking at the
opening session, Mr. Kim Won-soo, senior representative on disarmament, said
that all countries, especially the nuclear-weapon owners should pay more
political effort, strengthen cooperation on mutual understanding, reduce
differences, be active and creative to build a legal mechanism for possession
and proliferation of nuclear weapon, step by step to strive for the ultimate
goal to eliminate this weapon completely.
Representing for regions,
organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN expressed concern
about the deadlock in the disarmament and anti-proliferation of nuclear weapon
for years, called on countries to raise the awareness of the danger of the
nuclear weapon and other mass destruction weapons and to discuss about the
nature of this matter comprehensively and responsibly, basing on diplomatic
measures, dialogue and trust building; as well as affirming the rights of each
country in research, development, production and use of nuclear energy for
peaceful purposes.
Also in the opening session,
many countries stressed the urgent need to promote the non-nuclear weapons
areas, to promote restriction to prevent
nuclear weapons from terrorists and criminals, called on the nuclear weapons
owner countries to behave more responsibly to promote the current mechanisms of
disarmament and the relevant international agreements and treaties to be soon
effective and universal.
In this session, the countries
had discussed a lot of important matter such as disarmament and
non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, to reform the disarmament mechanism,
strengthen international security, and to ensure security in outer space. /.

The Vietnamese people deeply love independence, freedom and peace. But in the face of United States aggression they have risen up, united as one man.
We all love peace, of course, and we also hate war
We are proud of ourselves, of our family, of where we were born and grow up in - Vietnam
The world's peace is very important for all countries, so we must protect it.
