Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought - the solid ideological foundation of our Party
7/7/15
There
are some people both in Vietnam
and overseas who intentionally or mistakenly side with people of prejudiced and
extreme views to distort and oppose to the trend of development of the country.
They have tried to use different ways to deny Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh
Thought. They have also tried to take advantages of the media, both traditional
and modern ones, to fiercely sabotage the current political regime in Vietnam. They
regarded Marxist-Leninism only valuable in the period from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century and at present it is
inappropriate. They want to “remove Ho Chi Minh Idol from his post”.
Is
that true that Marxist-Leninism is a wrong theory, and if it is not wrong
it is out of date as slandered by the so-called “democrats” and
“dissidents”? They are totally wrong! Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and V.I Lenin always regarded their
theories as methodologies for action. Marxist-Leninism Doctrine is an open
doctrine, and is always supplemented with new energy from life. Only the dogma
and inconsiderate study of the theory to properly and creatively apply to
concrete condition of the country in different periods can lead to failure and
make vivid and dialectical values stained and rotten. The disintegration of the
socialist models in the Soviet Union and
Eastern European countries in the last decade of the 20th century has clearly manifested.
Together with the denial of Marxist-Leninism, they have tried to use different
ways to deny Ho Chi Minh Thought. In essence, they want to “remove Ho Chi Minh
Idol from his post”; intentionally regard Ho Chi Minh Thought as opposite or of
the same fate with Marxist-Leninism and not create the driving force for the
development of the nation. It is necessary to affirm that Ho Chi Minh Thought
has its origin from and is the creative development of Marxist-Leninism in
concrete conditions of Vietnam
in accordance with each revolution period, and is a factor leading to victory
of Vietnamese revolution. Not only the quintessence of the good of the
Vietnamese national culture, but in essence, Ho Chi Minh Ideology is also the
doctrine of development. A number of scholars, politicians, and cultural and
social activists in Vietnam
and abroad regard Ho Chi Minh Ideology as value of development, and a
“necessity” for the 21st century
and the following ones of the Vietnamese and the mankind, as a whole. This
observation is not emotional, but an unification of reason and feeling. In his
points of view, Ho Chi Minh was not under the illusion of the development of
the Vietnamese nation. Though being in right determination and of great glory,
the path to move forward of the Vietnamese revolution was uneven. This is the
struggle against the old and damaged things in order to build fresh ones
requiring everybody to unite as a steadfast block for the goal of the
socialism. The solidarity based on the right awareness of objectivity, the
unity of ideology to find out and subject to the truth which is beneficial for
the Fatherland, the people, the progress, the well off, free and forever happy
life of the people.
The
dissidents of Ho Chi Minh thought regularly use short-comings of the reality in
their arguments. The fact shows that in the process of guiding the state and
society, our Party has still made some mistakes, however, those mistakes have
not originated from the Party’s ideological foundation or the essence of the
political regime led by the Party. This is mainly due to inappropriate
awareness and application and the unscientific and unrealistic implementation.
Not acknowledging the reality, the so-called “democrats”, “patriots” have used
forums to propose their “conception” and “advised” our Party. According to
them, if our Party continues to pursue Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh
Thought, it will lead to the stagnation! They argue that the development of the
world is the assembling of the quintessence and not only Marxist-Leninism and
Ho Chi Minh Thought! It is necessary to mention that Marxist-Leninism and Ho
Chi Minh Thought is not only the quintessence of the human being and our
nation, but also the resonance and multiplication of these values, since the
essence of Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought is scientific and
revolutionary. This is undeniable and has been proved by the reality and
practice. From the beginning, founders of the scientific communism had
integrated current of ideas of development. They had emphasized many times that
their doctrines were not dogmas, but a compass for action, the outlook and
methodology to open the path for the development of intellect.
Recognizing
this, Ho Chi Minh had always been imbued with basic principles of
Marxist-Leninism, simultaneously absorbed the quintessence of national and
international cultures to diversify and heighten Marxist-Leninism to a
new level. He became an outstanding cultural activist of the nation and
humankind. Exaggerating the difficulties and challenges in Vietnam in recent years, the so-called
“democrats” insist to abandon Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought for the
development of Vietnam.
They also argue that the 21st century
is the century of the flat world and globalization, Vietnam should not keep obstinately
old theories and ideologies! As a matter of fact, our Party’s regarding of
Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought as ideological foundation and a
compass for action is the in creative and dialectical constancy of development.
The way of development in Vietnam
does not mean ideological pluralism. The level of democracy depends on the
nature of the political regime, on the capacity, quality and ability of the
political ruling party, and intellectual standard of the people, but not on the
quantity of parties and flows of ideology and theory. As a matter of fact, they
want to have different ideology and theory from Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi
Minh Ideology. But what kind of the theories? There will never be an ideology
or theory capable of bringing our nation toward the goal: “a wealthy people, a
powerful country, and a democratic, equitable and civilized society” as the one
of Marxist-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh.

V.I. Lenin pointed out that: “In the present phase, that of fierce internal war, the Central Committee can fulfil its task only if it is organised in the most centralised way, if there is inner-Party iron discipline, almost as rigorous as military discipline, and if the central organ of the Party is influential and enjoys the general esteem of all its members.”
Lenin meant that the stage of fierce civil war and the restriction of democracy imposed on the Soviet people were only provisional and had to be abolished as soon as the new regime was consolidated.
However, our enemies hoped to undermine the socialist camp from inside. They made a big error in thinking that their hopes could come true, mistaking the development of socialist democracy for a beginning of disorder and utter loss of spirit of organisation and inner Party discipline among Marxist-Leninist parties.
It is crystal clear that once victorious, socialism can never tolerate the personality cult and its harmful consequences.
Such a policy certainly enhances now as in the future the prestige of the C.P.S.U. in the socialist camp, as well as among the toiling masses of the capitalist countries and dependant countries.
An uproarious campaign of slander, launched by our enemies on the Communist Party
for having worked out measures to liquidate the consequcnces of the personality cult, proves that they were blind politically; history will confirm it before long.
In the struggle to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, prosperous and strong Viet Nam, the Viet Nam Workers’ Party has always grasped the identity between the interests of the struggle for the liberation of all peoples from imperialist yoke and those of the struggle for the liberation of the toiling masses from exploiting capitalism.
n a wider meaning, in the struggle for national reunification, the Viet Nam Workers’ Party has never isolated itself from the fraternal parties, in its whole practice, it has proved that genuine patriotism can never be separated from proletarian internationalism, and that the fraternal alliance between all fighters for a common cause - liberation of mankind, building of a classless society, peaceful co-existence and lasting peace - is unshakable.
Marxism-Leninism remains the unshakable basis of the common struggle of all parties, exchange of experiences on this struggle keeps its full meaning and questions arising for this or that party is in no way this or that party’s ‘own concern’, but has vital connection with the international proletariat as a whole.
The Viet Nam Workers’ Party has recorded big results in the creative application of Marxism-Leninism to the Vietnamese reality.
