On May 1st, the Maryland State’s court (the US) issued the result of a civil rights investigation of the death of a young black Freddie Gray. The investigation had concluded Freddie Gray broke his neck after falling head-first into the back of the police van as it was moving. Accordingly, the court had officially charged six police officers related to the death of Freddie Gray with second-degree assault, as well as illegal arrest.
As the court’s indictment, six officers did not provide necessary medical support for Freddie Gray, even he had requested to be helped at least twice. Currently, five of the six responding officers have been arrested to serve further investigation process.
Shortly after the Maryland State court’s conclusion and indictment, a lot of Baltimore’s citizens had gone down streets to celebrate and express their great happiness to see the justice be served; assuming that this a big victory of the community of black people in the US.
In Washington, President Obama said that it is "absolutely vital that the truth comes out" about the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore. He declined to comment on the charges directly, but said that what mattered was for the justice system to work properly. “What I think the people of Baltimore want more than anything else is the truth,” he said. “That’s what people around the country expect.”
In recent months, tension has been increasing in the US due to law enforcement forces’ actions against the black people. The Government of Maryland State had to declare a state of emergency following the aggressive demonstration on April 27th. This incident has been considered the most serious one in decades. The National Guards troops had to patrol on streets for the first time sine the 1968 riots.
At a White House news conference, Press Secretary John Earnest said that while the president was very focused on the issues in Baltimore, the need to keep police presence focused on the protests themselves is preventing the president from traveling there at this time.
But Press Secretary Earnest added that "the current plan" was not to wait for things to calm within the next week or two before the president definitely visited the city.

P
resident Obama condemned the violent protests on Tuesday, saying, "there's no excuse for the kind of violence we saw."
Obama added that the problems gripping the city are not new, and that the entire country needs to "do some soul-searching."
“The death of Freddie Gray is a new proof of the behavior of racism”, he added.
The justice department is already in Baltimore as part of a voluntary program aimed at recommending changes to the police department. And officials in Washington will need to decide whether a civil rights investigation duplicates those efforts to make sure that something like this doesn't happen again./.
