To prepare the ground for a sustainable peace
29/9/15
International Day of Peace (Peace Da
y) was
initiated by the United Nations in 1981. Then, the first Peace Day was
celebrated on September 1982. In 2002, the UN General Assembly officially
declared the day annual September 21 as International Day of Peace.
At a time when the world continues witnessing
the conflicts and wars which claim millions of lives, make many injured and
force population to migrate, ... then more than ever the value of peace becomes
precious. Building a lasting peace towards sustainable development is the lofty
goal that mankind always attempt to fulfill.
Celebrating the International Day of Peace,
the UN wants to show dedication to world peace and encourage all humanity act
together and cooperate for this purpose. International Peace Day is dedicated
to celebrating and strengthening the ideals of peace between all nations and
peoples ...
International Day of Peace is also the No-War
Day both within the individual and politics. This is an opportunity to build peace
in personal relationships as well as to resolve the larger conflicts. This
anniversary is an opportunity for the United Nations to urge warring parties
around the world and abandon the weapons and give a peaceful chance.
International Day of Peace provides an opportunity for the world to stop and
consider the best ways to escape the vicious cycle of conflict and violence.
The International Day of Peace in this year was
celebrated under the theme "Partnership for Peace - Dignity for
Everyone" aims to highlight the importance of all walks of life together
work for peace.
In the given message of International Day of
Peace (September 21, 2015) UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said this year's
celebration took place in the context of violence causing heavy casualties and
the conflicts instability occur in many parts of the world. However, instead of
falling into despair, we must work together to stop the violence and impunity.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon asked all the
warring parties to lay down arms and give a general ceasefire.
According to this senior official, the dream
of peace is not hopeless but it lives in the hearts of people in the world.
General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon called on all governments to increase investment
to help youth build peace and make a significant contribution that they can
bring to the world today.
At the same time, we must mobilize all the
partners with the same goal of peace. The non-governmental organizations,
religious groups and businesses play a role in promoting social progress, environmental
protection and creating a fairer world. The important thing associated with
this collaboration is the theme of the International Day of Peace this year -
"Partnership for Peace - Dignity for everyone".
We live in a time of danger but also
promising. In a few days, world leaders will meet at the UN headquater to adopt
a sustainable development program for the period to 2030. “This program is the
foundation for the beginning of a life of dignity for all people, where poverty
is only a part of history and peace is paramount” - UN Secretary-General
stressed.
On the occasion of the International Day of
Peace, let us take this opportunity to implement the goals of protecting future
generations from the scourge of war and violence.
