From Bphone to Vietnamese trademarks

                                             The made-in-Vietnam Bphone of Bkave

Few weeks ago, Bkav, a Hanoi-based Internet security firm officially introduced the made-in-Vietnam cell phone named Bphone. Shortly after the “birth” of Bphone, it was examined closely to find anything wrong of this cell phone.
On the social networks, there have been a lot of different ideas around the new Bkav’s smartphone. Some argued that Bphone is made in China and just labeled “made in Vietnam” or Bkav has violated the competition law by comparing between Bphone and other internationally famous smartphone. The others said, the design of Bphone is familiar with iPhone, Oppo or Sony; Bphone is nothing new and have no breakthrough in creation and design, it is just a product of collection.
In fact, Bphone is not the first smartphone that is announced to be totally made-in-Vietnam. In 2013, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) unveiled its smartphone named Vivas Lotus S. As VNPT’s statement, S1was studied, developed and produced totally on modern chain at VNPT’s factory in Ha Noi and details of S1 was brought from foreign manufacturers. At that time, S1 was even recognized as the first totally made-in-Vietnam smartphone by Vietnam Guinness Organization. However, due to equipping with low functions and bad marketing strategy, S1 had been fail to attract the attention of consumers.
Surely, Bkave had foreseen a lot of difficulties, the firm has been “reckless” to decide to self-produce a smartphone in Vietnam while other Vietnamese companies choose outsourcing solution (buying components, styling design, mechanical design and design of inside electronic circuit board).
Nguyen Tu Quang, president of BKAV, said BKAV spent four years and multi-millions of dollars on researching and designing BPhone. BKAV’s staff designed the appearance of the device, set up many details and systematic configuration and customized Android 5.0 into BOS - its own operating system and integrated some BKAV’s technologies and applications. After completing the design, BKAV bought over 800 electronics and mechanical engineering accessories from 82 suppliers in the world and created the finished BPhone in Vietnam.
With great efforts in recent time, Bkav, a newcomer on mobile market has actually chosen its own way. Now Bkav has not only been an anti-virus company, but also a real competitor on the potential market with big ones as Apple, Samsung...
The reaction of users has shown great expectation of Vietnamese to Bphone as a truly made-in-Vietnam smartphone. Bphone is good or not? It takes time to prove this and experiences to tell the nature of the product. From another perspective, Vietnam technology need companies that dare to think, dare to do. Success or no success depends on capacity and reality that the companies can do. So Bphone, a truly made-in-Vietnam product, shall we support or not?
In my opinion, the consumer should have a generous view rather than giving mean look to the efforts of Vietnamese companies. This would be great encouragement for Vietnamese products to move on and improve itself, creating habit of “Vietnamese prefer to buy Vietnamese products”./.

I think Bphone is good, and Vietnamese should buy Bphone for our own interest and to support for Vietnamese company, Bkav.

Bkav still import many components for its own Bphone, I hope they can produce more and more components for Bphone in the future.

Bkav is so brave to join mobile market when there are giant ones like Apple, Samsung, we should support they in this unfair competition!
