UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said on March 10 that the event will attract thousands of representatives from UN member states and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Their participation will reflect the determination of the countries and activists to enforce women’s rights and promote gender equality.
The priority for this session will be women’s empowerment and its links to sustainable development. Participating Government officials will focus discussions on how to facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and act to ensure the enforcement of policies and laws.
Within the framework of the event, hundreds of sideline activities will be organised by the UN, its member states and NGOs./.
